One of the most similar movies to Green Mile is Pulp Fiction. Both films have a strong Christian theme that will leave your heart tingling for days! In both stories, men are given an opportunity to redeem themselves and prove their worth as human beings by showing compassion towards others in need. This movie also deals with racism which is another similarity between Green mile and pulp fiction. If you enjoyed one, then I am sure you would enjoy the other too!!
Amelie is a French film about an innocent young girl who has her entire world turned upside down after she meets the boy of her dreams. This cute film will warm your heart and restore faith in love again. If you are looking for movies like Green Mile, then I would definitely recommend this one!
In addition to these two films, there are many more that can be watched as well!! If you loved Green Mile, then Phenomenon will be the movie for you! This film is about a man who wakes up one morning and discovers that he can suddenly start to communicate with other people’s minds. What an interesting concept right? I know it sounds weird but this remarkable movie can make your heart feel things it has never felt before!!
Cool Hand Luke
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a world where your every move is under constant surveillance? Well, that’s exactly what happens to the main character of Cool Hand Luke. Dolores Claiborne is a movie about two women who have to come together in order to solve the mystery of their family’s dark past. The Onion Field
The Onion Field is a movie about two LAPD officers who are held hostage by an ex-convict after they pull the car over in order to search it. This film deals with many controversial topics such as police brutality and corruption that will make you think twice about law enforcement! If movies like Green Mile interest you, then watch this one for sure!!
Hearts in Atlantis
The next movie on my list is Hearts in Atlantis. This movie stars Anthony Hopkins and centers around a young boy who has to put up with bullies at school. The only person that seems to understand him though, is the man from apartment 42B. He offers some advice for coping with bullies but he also gives Bobby an ominous warning about the future of his country during this time of unrest within America’s borders (Vietnam War).
This film was released in 2001 although it feels like it could have been released 20 years earlier due to its setting back when people still used rotary phones! If you enjoy films featuring redemption stories or coming-of-age tales, then be sure to watch this one.
Powder stars Sean Patrick Flanery and is about a young man with special abilities. Powder was originally meant to be released in theaters, but due to bad test screenings, it was instead released straight to video. The movie follows the same story as Green Mile through – redemption for past sins of neglectful parents who abandoned their child before he even had a chance to learn how to read or write properly.
If you are looking for movies like green mile then this one would definitely fit your criteria! Watch this film if you enjoy touching stories about love overcoming all odds regardless of race, creed, or age difference (although there isn’t too much romance). I highly recommend watching powder if you enjoyed green mile because these two movies are very similar
The Life of David Gale
David Gale was another movie released in 2003 and stars Kevin Spacey. It is about a college professor who has to cope with the aftermath of his actions after he kills himself on television during an interview over capital punishment, or “the death penalty” as we Americans like to call it.
The film discusses what would cause someone to kill themselves for such a controversial reason so I do not recommend watching this one if you are feeling suicidal or have ever had thoughts of suicide before because some scenes might trigger memories that could interfere with your mental health! If you enjoyed Green Mile though then definitely give The Life of David Gale a watch – just don’t expect anything close to Tom Hanks acting here.
True Crime was released in 1999 and stars James Gandolfini. It is about a reporter who has to cope with the death of his wife while simultaneously working on an article about a murder case he had been following for years prior, during which time he lost contact with her. This film follows many tropes that have become cliche over the years such as “based on true events” or even just having titles like these movies will make you feel like catching a train so if it sounds too boring don’t waste your money!
The movies I have listed are all similar to the movie Green Mile. If you enjoy redemption stories or coming-of-age tales, then be sure to watch these films! They will make you feel like catching a train and escaping from your current surroundings in favor of something new and exciting (or at least they should).
