The 100

The 100 is a show about teenagers that has some similarities to Doctor Who. The main character, Clarke Griffin, was sent down to Earth as part of a community service punishment for being accused of treason in space. She learns with her group (which includes characters similar to Rose Tyler and Rory Williams) that they must fight their way through dangerous situations on Earth if they want any chance at survival.

If you are looking for TV shows like Doctor Who then make sure you check out the first season of The 100 so that see what all the hype is!

Star Trek

Star Trek is a tv show that has been around for quite some time. This tv show has had many spin-offs and sequels, one of which is Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG). Another TV series similar to Doctor Who in the Star Trek franchise would be this particular TNG season. In Season One of TNG, you follow Captain Picard as he explores new planets with his crew while trying to figure out what exactly happened to him when he was kidnapped by an alien species known as “The Borg”.

If you are looking for tv shows like Doctor Who then make sure you check out any seasons of both The 100 or Star Trek!

Fringe

Fringe is another TV show that has a lot of similarities to Doctor Who.

In Fringe, there is a cast of characters who work together as part-time FBI agents while also running their own business as “fringe” scientists (hence the name). They use fringe science and mathematics in order to solve crimes that may seem impossible for any other ordinary detective. In Season One of this particular TV series, you follow Olivia Dunham as she works with her team consisting of Peter Bishop, Walter Bishop, and Astrid Farnsworth in order to try to stop an invasion from an alternate universe known as The Other Side.

If you enjoyed watching Doctor Who then make sure you check out some episodes or even seasons of Fringe!

Firefly

Firefly is another tv show like Doctor Who that should not be missed!

This tv show has a lot of similarities to the tv show Doctor Who. In Firefly, you follow Captain Malcolm Reynolds as he tries to fight his way through the “Verse” with his crew consisting of characters who are similar to The Ponds (Bri nt and River Tam). While fighting against powerful enemies in order to keep what’s theirs safe, they learn how valuable family really is when it comes down to them needing each other more than ever before.

Battlestar Galactica (2004)

The TV show Battlestar Galactica is one of the best TV shows like Doctor Who because it has many elements that avid fans love – time travel, aliens, and an epic space drama.

If you’re looking for a tv show to watch after seeing doctor who or reading this article on tv shows like Doctor Who, then I suggest checking out Battlestar Galatica (2004). It’s about human vs robot kind in space with plenty of action and adventure while keeping true to its sci-fi roots!

Battlestar Galactica may not be as educational as Dr. Who but it sure does pack quite a punch when it comes to science fiction entertainment!

Stranger Things

The tv show Stranger Things is another tv show that I think you should check out if you are a fan of Doctor Who. Like Doctor Who, it features the use of science in its plotline and also has an underlying mystery about what’s really going on. Not to mention there’s some pretty cool 80s nostalgia so fans will get a kick out of seeing references like The Clash and Ghostbusters!

As with most sci-fi tv shows or movies, Stranger Things can seem quite scary at times but overall it does have more good than bad – especially since it provides plenty of suspenseful thrills for viewers as well as many heart-wrenching moments where everyone feels sorry for certain characters.

The OA

The TV show The OA is a fairly new tv series that has gained some popularity because of its interesting plotline and unique storytelling. It might not have the same elements as Doctor Who but it’s still worth checking out!

It can be difficult to get into at first especially if you’re not used to binge-watching or are trying this tv show out for the first time, however, I highly recommend sticking with it until episode three before deciding whether or not you want to watch further – this will give you an idea of what type of content there is in terms of violence, etc…

Black Mirror

The tv show Black Mirror is another great tv show that I would recommend if you’re looking for something to binge-watch. It has three seasons currently and each one of them is pretty interesting!

It’s about the way technology can affect our lives in many ways whether it be through social media or just everyday life, making us question what we do with our time on this planet and how much better we could make things by being more considerate towards others but also ourselves too…

Mr. Robot

The tv show Mr. Robot is another tv show that I think you should check out if you love Doctor Who. It’s about a young cyber security engineer by the name of Elliot Alderson, played by Rami Malek, who’s life spirals downwards into a series of events that only get more intense as time goes on!

If you are looking for something to watch after seeing Doctor Who then be sure to check out Mr. Robot because it might just change your view on things…

Sense8

Sense8 is another tv show that I would recommend if you’re looking for something similar to Doctor Who.

It’s about a group of individuals from around the world called sensates, or ‘sensates’ as it’s referred to in short form, which are able to connect with each other telepathically despite not having any previous connections whatsoever! If this doesn’t sound like Doctor Who then what does?

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones was created in 2011. It has many different characters and each character has its own storyline which makes it very interesting to watch! This tv series includes dragons, witches, ice zombies, and much more! If you are looking for tv shows about magic or fantasy then this tv show is perfect for you!

Lost

Lost was created in 2004. The idea of the tv series is based around a group of people after they crash land on an island and are stuck there with no way to get home! This tv show has many mysteries throughout it which makes it very interesting for the audience.

The Big Bang Theory

This TV series first aired in 2007 and has been a popular TV show ever since! It’s about four nerdy friends living their life together and it is very relatable to the audience, making them love it even more. If you are looking for TV shows about science then this might be perfect for you!

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad was originally shown on AMC from January 20, 2008 – September 29, 2013. The tv show starred Bryan Cranston as Walter White and Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman. Breaking Bad follows the story of an underachieving high school chemistry teacher who finds out he has terminal cancer and decides to produce crystal meth in order to secure his family’s financial future before he dies. This TV show definitely shares some common elements with Doctor Who, but it also contains quite a bit of adult content so television viewers should be aware if they are going to watch this TV series! That being said; it is still one of my absolute favorite shows because I find all the characters interesting.

Orange is the New Black

Orange is the New Black was originally shown on Netflix from July 11, 2013 – present. The tv show stars Taylor Schilling as Piper Chapman and Laura Prepon as Alex Vause. Orange Is the New Black follows the story of Piper Chapman who gets sentenced to 15 months in Litchfield Penitentiary for carrying drug money for her girlfriend ten years ago before she met her fiancé. This TV show definitely has some adult content but it also contains an interesting plotline and I found myself watching all four seasons in about three weeks!

Torchwood

Torchwood was originally shown on BBC from October 26, 2006 – June 19, 2011. The TV show starred John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper. Torchwood follows the story of an extraterrestrial team who work to protect Earth against alien threats while working for the fictional Cardiff branch of the secretive Torchwood Institute. This tv show definitely shares some elements with Doctor Who but it also has much more adult content which makes this tv series not so family-friendly!

Being Human

Being Human was originally shown on Syfy from January 17, 2011 – April 14, 2014. The TV show starred Sam Witwer as Aidan Waite; Meaghan Rath as Sally Malik; and Sam Huntington as Josh Levison. Being Human follows the story of three roommates who are all in very different living situations but come together to form an unlikely friendship and must deal with their supernatural states while trying to live normal lives!

Farscape

Farscape is a show about John Crichton, an astronaut from Earth. He gets shot through a wormhole in space and ends up on the other side of the universe where he meets some interesting characters: D’Argo, Aeryn Sun, Zhaan, Rygel XVI (a small humanoid alien), Chiana (who has special abilities), and Pilot (the living ship). Together they work to try and stay alive while also trying to get back home.

The show pretty much follows this formula every episode but it’s still worth watching! Farscape is sort of like Doctor Who because there are many different planets that you visit throughout the series which helps keep things new and fresh.

In The Flesh

In The Flesh is a TV show that follows zombies after the events of an apocalypse. After being resurrected, many people who were once dead begin to act like they did when they first died: sick and without control over their bodies or emotions. They are then forced into rehabilitation camps where there generally treated pretty poorly by society because most people still fear these “rotters”.

After some time passes, with certain individuals getting better at controlling themselves and working towards reintegrating back into normal life, another uprising happens which causes all rotters (no matter how well behaved) to be sent off for annihilation. Kieren Walker returns home in this tv show but he’s not alone as his sister is also now a zombie!

Misfits

Misfits is a TV show about what happens when five young offenders have to do community service at the same place. While they are doing their hours, something terrible happens that gives all of them superpowers and now these teenagers must learn how to use their powers while also keeping it hidden from society so that no one gets hurt (or worse).

In this TV show, there’s a group dynamic where you get different perspectives on each character depending on which episode you’re watching. Plus you never know who might be hiding some strange abilities!

Orphan Black

Orphan Black is a TV show about Sarah, an outsider, and orphan whose life changes dramatically after witnessing the suicide of a woman who looks just like her. After taking on this stranger’s identity she finds that there are many people out in the world who not only look exactly like her but have led similar lives to hers as well!

This TV show follows clones which makes it very interesting because you’re dealing with so many different characters all at once. Orphan Black is sort of like Doctor Who because they both deal with superhuman abilities and it can be hard to tell what might happen next for these individuals (especially when everyone has special talents).

The best TV shows like Doctor Who are not going to be the same for everyone. What is important, however, is that you find a show with strong storytelling and characters that you care about so it’s emotionally engaging. After all, what good is time travel if we couldn’t relate? If your favorite show has been canceled or ended its run in recent years, then take some comfort knowing there are plenty of other great sci-fi series on Netflix waiting for you!
