I love songs about space. I have a huge list of songs that are all about space and it makes me really happy to listen to them. There’s nothing like blasting one of these songs, getting lost in the lyrics as you stare out into the darkness of outer space. If you’re looking for songs about space or just want to explore this topic further then check out my Ultimate List! If you like space and stars make sure you check out our Songs about Stars list.

“Space Oddity” by David Bowie

This is the first song that comes to mind when I think of songs about space. It’s got this mellow, haunting sound and it’s just so cool. This is one of those songs where you can really feel Bowie’s pain as he sings about his fictional character Major Tom being lost in outer space after a mission goes wrong.

“Rocket Man” by Elton John

Rocket Man is one of those songs that you can’t help but belt out loudly. It’s just so catchy! Elton John has a way with words and he paints such a vivid picture in your mind as he sings about the lonely astronaut who “flies through his nights” and longs to return home to Earth.

“The Final Countdown” by Europe

I have a soft spot for songs from my childhood and this is one of them. I’m not 100% sure what they’re talking about in the lyrics, but it sounds like an adventure! The song starts off slow and gradually builds up to its crescendo with powerful drums, guitars, violins, synthesizers.

“Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes

This is a song that has been covered by many artists, but the original version by Rupert Holmes will always be my favorite. It’s nothing too deep or meaningful, it’s just about escaping to an exotic island with your lover and having fun while you’re there. I love songs like this one because they remind me of all the things we can

“I’m Gonna Be a Spaceman” by The Kinks

This song is really lighthearted and it’s so enjoyable to listen to. The lyrics are about a guy who wants to be an astronaut, but he knows that his family won’t understand him. He doesn’t care what people think though because “I’m gonna take my chances in outer space!”

“Satellite of Love” by Lou Reed

This song is a bit more melancholy than the others on this list. Lou Reed sings about how he’s “lost in space” and desperate for companionship, but it never seems to work out for him.

I love songs about space! The songs I’ve listed here are some of my all-time favorites.

“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

This is one of my favorite songs from the Motown era. It’s got such a happy, uplifting feel to it and I always find myself tapping my toes or bobbing my head along with the music as Marvin Gaye sings about how he loves his woman no matter what life throws at them.

“Space Cowboy” by Steve Miller Band

I love songs that describe wild adventures and this is one of them. It’s about a space cowboy who takes on the galaxy with his songs as he “Blasts off into outer space.”

“Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words, Let Me Love You)” by Frank Sinatra

This is a classic tune about someone who’s in love and wants to be with the one they love. It has such an old-school sound that I just can’t help but belt out when it comes on!

“Planet Caravan” by Black Sabbath

This is one of those songs that I listen to when I want to feel like no matter what happens, everything’s going to be okay. It has a really soothing sound and the lyrics are meaningful too.

“Galaxy Song (from Monty Python)” by Eric Idle

This is a funny song with lyrics that are easy to remember. I think it would make an excellent addition to this list because songs about space don’t have to be serious all the time!

“(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult

This is another song with lyrics that are easy to remember. I love songs like this one because they’re so dark and mysterious! It tells a story about a guy who always chooses death rather than life, but he doesn’t understand why people fear it.

“High Flying Bird” by Eric Clapton

This song is about freedom and adventure. The lyrics are a little bit more serious than some songs on this list, but it’s still got that spacey feel to it.

“Polaris” by Fleetwood Mac

This song is different from all the songs on this list because it’s not about space, instead, it focuses on polar opposites. It starts off slow and gradually builds up to its crescendo with powerful drums, guitars, violins, synthesizers.

“I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers

This song is about a guy who’s willing to go the distance for his girl, no matter how many miles it takes. It has such an upbeat sound and lyrics that are easy to remember.

“Cosmic Girl” by Jamiroquai

This song is so funky and playful! The lyrics are about a guy who wants to meet someone he can have fun with, but it has that spacey feel mixed in.

“Faithfully” by Journey

This song is about a guy who’s hoping to find that special someone. He wants to be with her forever and he’ll never leave her side no matter what the future holds for them.

“Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey

This is the quintessential song about space! It’s been played on TV and in movies for years and it has such an uplifting sound.

“Break on Through (to the Other Side)” by The Doors

This song about space has more of a rock sound to it. It’s got lyrics that are easy to remember and the music is fast-paced, but still leaves room for some great guitar solos.

“Lift Off” by Beyonce ft Jay-Z

This song has a really powerful beat and the lyrics are inspiring. It’s about how you can’t be scared to go after what you want because now is your time!
